Homemade Taco Seasoning

This homemade taco seasoning recipe is made with simple pantry spices for an easy from-scratch seasoning blend full of rich flavor. Use it for tacos, taco soup, chili, dips, roasted vegetables, and more.

- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 3 tablespoons cumin
- 1 tablespoon mineral salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Add all of the ingredients to a small mixing bowl or jar.
Stir or shake well until the seasoning blend is evenly combined.
Store in an airtight jar or container in a cool, dry pantry.
• Use 3 tablespoons of taco seasoning per pound of meat.
• About 2-3 tablespoons of homemade taco seasoning is roughly equivalent to one store-bought seasoning packet.
• Adjust the salt or spice level to fit your family’s taste preferences.
• This is already a mild taco seasoning as written but for less heat, reduce the chili powder, cumin, and black pepper.
• For a spicier taco seasoning, add extra chili powder, cumin, and black pepper.
• If your taco seasoning starts clumping, add a food-safe moisture-wicking clay packet to the container to help absorb moisture.
• For best flavor, use fresh spices and store away from heat and moisture.
• Store homemade taco seasoning in an airtight container for up to 6 months for the best flavor.
