Meet Todd and Eileen from Gather at the Farmhouse

Hey friend, we are so glad you’re here. We are a happily married couple raising our three kids on a small homestead in rural Pennsylvania. We’re so honored you stopped by! Our journey to homesteading came from the desire to live simply, steward well, and give our children the kind of upbringing that we had—rooted in agriculture, responsibility, and being together as a family. We both have backgrounds in farming, and as the years passed, we realized our kids weren’t experiencing the same opportunities that we had. With modern agriculture looking very different than it used to—especially for kids—we decided to create those experiences ourselves, right here at home.

Eileen started a small garden, which has grown increasingly large over the years. She has over 15 years of food preservation experience, from canning and fermenting to dehydrating and freezing. Over the years, Todd has joined in to help with the garden, and it is now very much a team effort. We find great satisfaction in working side by side as we garden, raise animals, and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

As Bible-believing Christians, we believe everything we have has been given to us from the Lord. It is our desire to be good stewards of what He has entrusted to us.

We always cooked at home and thought we were eating healthy, but we realized we were eating very similarly to the standard American diet. It was slowly eroding our health. After a health crisis, we made a shift toward natural, non-toxic living. We switched to gluten-free, made-from-scratch recipes. After experiencing improvements in our health, we had no desire to go back to our old way of eating.

It was a slow but steady process of reading labels, switching out products, and being intentional about what we put on our bodies and in our bodies. We are still on the journey to healthy, non-toxic living and are learning new things every day. We love to research and learn, and even more, we love to share with others and encourage you on your journey to healthier living.

We realized this process can seem very difficult at first—growing your own food, cooking from scratch, and switching out products. But that’s what this blog is for: to encourage you to make one little change at a time. We believe that small, intentional changes can have a big impact.

This homesteading journey has nourished our mind, body, and soul. We want the same for you and your family. We invite you to gather with us here as we learn, grow, and encourage each other.
